Spring Gardening

Hello - I hope you've all had a great weekend! I've enjoyed many happy moments  of mine outdoors, gardening, pottering and enjoying the spring....Saturday wasn't sunny here so I did more potting - and pottering - in the potting shed. Lots of spring plants to divide and grow on, and to give away or swap with friends and relatives....and a few new anemones to add to my spring border...
The potting shed is much nicer to work in now that it's been painted inside - much lighter for a start. I'm still choosing the colour for the outside - I keep changing my mind...should I do it grey, or blue, or blue green...all the pale shades are lovely so I will pick one next week and get painting very soon, now the weather is warming up...The little Bees Seeds post card was one I found recently at a nearby garden shop - the seed company originally began not far from here....
I love the delicate anemone blanda flowers - I think they look lovely with other spring flowers and bulbs, just so pretty and colourful... and here they are on Sunday when it was very SUNNY indeed.....Mr P and I worked very hard clearing the beds, borders and paths of leaves, cutting back and generally tidying...

This is the spring border, right next to the terrace where we can sit and enjoy our cups of tea and look at the flowers in the bright spring sunshine...such bliss to be warm enough to do that again....
And when I wasn't gardening this weekend I was knitting....on Friday this beautiful kid mohair yarn arrived and I couldn't wait to begin knitting it up - it's absolutely gorgeous, so soft and warm but light, and not too fluffy! The yarn came from the Honorwood Flocks here.

And for a pattern I have to thank the lovely Vivienne at Green Rabbit Designs who sent me lots of mohair patterns when I mentioned that I'd lost mine from the 80's! Isn't that kind?! Vivienne crochets and knits gorgeous scarves, bags and corsages from wonderful yarn, such a clever lady.

So, I'm off now to knit some more of my lovely yarn. Thank you for visiting me here and for your sweet comments.I wish you all a wonderful week with sunny days and blue skies and sweet spring flowers. xx

Lovely post as always. But how do you manage to keep your potting shed so pristine? No spiders nor dirty marks to be seen! That mohair looks beautiful too - can't wait to see the finished article.

Oh Helen your yarn is gorgeous and I love your colour choice! :)I can't wait to see the finished cardigan.
No gardening for me this weekend as the snow did arrive but thankfully it didn't stay too long as it soon turned to rain but it's been very cold! Lucky you sitting outside enjoying your flowers and tea!

P.S. Thank you for your very kind mention. :)

I was thinking of your lovely potting shed today whilst in mine, spilling sawdust on the floor, the chickens joining me to peck at the spilled corn! How do you keep it so pristine? Lovely spring flowers and so nice to feel the warmth of the sun today. Becky x

I am glad your were able to get out into the sunshine yesterday Helen, we had the reverse here..I spent a lovely day out in the garden on Saturday in the sunshine tidying away after the winter. Yesterday it rained and watered everything. Your lovely potting shed must be so useful to work in. It is sunny again today and tomorrow and the the temperature is due to get up to 12oc...very Springly! Enjoy your week, keep potting and pottering and sharing your cheerful photos,

Love the flowers in their pots in your potting shed - they look so pretty, and love that blue chair!!!!
The spring border is looking lovely - the anemones make a wonderful show, beautiful colours. How lovely you were able to sit and admire such beauty whilst sipping your tea!
I only have little pockets of colour as yet - the daffs are finally out to add to the crocuses and prinmulas -and as its our first spring here we will hopefully have lots more surprises!
Our weather was the opposite - satuday was sunny and springlike, sunday wet and grey.
The soft blue kid mohair is so lovely - how kind of greenrabbit designs to send you patterns!
have a lovely day!

Hi Helen, Your garden photos are so beautiful. I can smell the lovely scents and earth and sun aromas. I can't believe how many flowers you have in bloom...it's just so encouraging for me!! It shall come and is on it's way. I adore your kid mohair and the color is my favorite and will look so nice on you. (I think you have blond hair) The pattern looks so delicate and is knitting up so nicely. Enjoy and shave a great week. xoRobin❤

Love the postcard!
I remember Bees Seeds near Chester(where I was born and lived until recently)and wonder if it's the one you refer to.
They used to have super sales when we'd stock up our gardens at very reasonable cost. This is going back more years than I care to mention!!
Your knitting and your pics are gorgeous as ever - thank you.

Eeek! You have just reminded me that I really MUST get out in the garden and sort it and sort the pots full of dead stuff that surround our house at the moment. Your pots look gorgeous!

Gorgeous pics Helen. I have definite potting shed envy! Ours is home to too many 8-legged lurkers for my liking. :-(

I spent a glorious few hours at the weekend painting our gate and a little garden table in Forget-Me-Not blue which is just gorgeous.

Have a lovely week.

What a treat it's been to have this very first visit to your site. I think I got here via Lucy's "Attic 20-something" (another fabulous site.)

Just reading through your recent posts has definitely reassured me that Spring is on the way. I will definitely be visiting here again soon.
